Position:

Associate Actuary

 

Location:

Southeast

 

General Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for analyzing, reserving, forecasting, and reporting for Underwritten and Self-Insured Business. The incumbent is also responsible for actuarial research in support of new business and product development. The incumbent builds and adjusts financial models to analyze the impact of changes in the health insurance environment, and to analyze the impact of potential changes that could be made by the company.

 

Qualifications

 1.  Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field
2.  Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
3.  Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
4.  Minimum 3 years actuarial experience
5.  Experience interpreting and communicating information both orally and in writing
6.  Experience in a position requiring the ability to identify and solve problems using mathematical models
7.  Experience in a position requiring the ability to organize and prioritize tasks
8.  Exposure to mathematics/statistical analysis in a position or classroom setting
9.  Experience collecting and analyzing data from various data sources
10.  Experience in a position requiring close attention to detail
11.  Experience using MS Word and Excel
12.  Experience in the healthcare industry desired
13.  Experience with individual health products desired
14.  Experience using MS PowerPoint preferred
